Clinical Applications
The following indications will be discussed with more detail. All of them are related to the diagnosis or assessment of coronary artery disease (CAD). The data provided by myocardial spect is esentially functional and dependent on the coronary flow. Anatomy of the coronary arteries or obstruction severity are not evaluated, rather the effect on the flow on the myocardium uptake. This procedure is probably the best to estimate ischemia. But certainly its information combined to anatomy from coronary angiography, CT and MRI is of great value for patient management.
