SPECT FDG MYOCARDIAL VIABILITY
Male, 52 year old, with recent MI in the territory of LAD. Underwent Thallium 201 at rest and redistribution followed by F18 FDG Spect, with high energy collimators. See the fixed defect in the anterior, septal and apical walls, having moderate FDG uptake, meaning partial myocardial viability (arrows).
FDG studies are the gold standard for myocardial viability, especially in CAD. Normal glucose metabolism is an excellent marker of cell integrity. Spect was used with high energy collimators obtaining adequate resolution.
