DOBUTAMINE

- Install an iv line with saline infusion. Make sure the needle is in the vein lumen to avoid infiltration.

- Standard 12 lead ECG stress monitoring by Cardiologist.

- Give 5 ug/kg/min  from 0-3rd min, increasing in 5 ug/kg/min every 3 min up to 40 ug/kg/min. At 35 ug/kg/min, if heart rate has not rised to 85% or more of the predicted according to age, give 0.5 mg of atropine to increase heart rate. A new 0.5 mg dose can be injected, starting 40 ug/kg/min stage. It has been demonstrated that sensitivity is better than dobutamine alone.

- Administer the radiotracer at maximun effect of dobutamine/atropine, ie 3 min after starting 40 ug/kg/min stage. Keep infusion for 2-3 additional min  to achieve maximun myocardial uptake.

- Begin spect acquisition 15 min later.
