Acquisition

 

    -  Use scintillation probe or gammacamera for counting.

    -  At 2 h and 24 h, obtain 5 min counts over neck and lower thigh.

    -  Get also "phantom" and background counts.

    -  In case of perchlorate washout test, 2 h after giving the radioactive iodine, get net thyroid counts as baseline. At 30 min, 60 min, 90 min and 2 h after giving 0.5 g in children and 1 g in adults of potassium or sodium perchlorate, obtain net thyroid counts form comparing to baseline.

     -   In the TSH stimulating test, obtain a baseline RAIU and repeat it after giving TSH.
