Patient Preparation
- Withdraw steroids when evaluating possible Cushing’s disease. Avoid excesive salt intake, oral contraceptives, diuretics, metyrapone, aminoglutethimide, antihypertensive agents
- Fasting overnight or for 8 h before injection.
- Use dexamethasone supression in cases with aldosterone or androgens increased secretion.
- Administer lugol’s solution 1 drop 2-3 times a day, 3 days before and 7 days after injecting the radiotracer to prevent free iodine uptake by the thyroid gland.
- Mild colonic laxatives 2-3 days before imaging.
