Gastroeosphageal Reflux Scintigraphy Abnormal
MHG, 66 year old female, referred to rule out gastroesophageal reflux, as part of workup of bronchial asthma .
Black arrow shows activity in the esophagus, yellow arrows to reflux episodes in the 3 esophageal segments in the time/activity curves. It was concluded as marked reflux.
Gastroesphageal scintigraphy is useful to assess reflux, intensity, number of events, location in the esophagus and duration. It is more sensitive than anatomic procedures but less than ambulatory invasive methods.
