Gastrointestinal Bleeding Localization Scintigraphy
This procedure allows the detection of bleeding into the gastrointestinal lumen by means of two different methods. One uses labeled 99m Tc sulphur colloid and the other labeled red blood cells (RBCs), also with 99m Tc. As per author experience and current frequency utilization, only the latter will be discussed with more detail. Likewise, these techniques are not employed very often nowadays due to advances in other imaging modalities like angio CT and MRI, mainly the former (1). The topics will include comment on:
