Acquisition
The patient receives the radiotracer underneath the gammacamera by intravenous injection. Use gammacamera with paralell high resolution collimator for imaging. Obtain a dynamic study for 90 min, 60 sec per frame. Four h delayed images maybe useful when the gallbladder is not seen initially in cases suspected of acute cholecystitis. Likewise, 24-48 h delayed views are helpful when severe biliary obstruction (atresia) is being evaluated.
At 30-45 min or when there is well defined gallbladder visualization, give a ham and cheese sandwich as stimulous. If available Sincalide, a CCK analog may be administered intravenously either as a slow "bolus" in 5 min, 10 min or in a continuous 45 min infusion.
