Complete APN Recovery at follow-up

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

            Boy,  at the age of 6 months presented with  40 ° C fever, severe decay, anorexia. CBC and urinalysis => Acute Pyelonephritis. ultrasound and DMSA scan were compatible with APN. At left first study shows bilateral defects.Underwent antibiotic treatment. Control at 2 year old, patient was asymptomatic. A follow-up DMSA scan was requested.  Normal tracer distribution   in both kidneys.

            Usually the recovery of the parenchyma is slow regardless of the therapy effectiveness and may take as long as 12 months to 18 months. Six months may not be enough (2).
