Patient 3 year old in controlof grade I VUR detected at radiological cystography when being one year of age. DMSA scintigraphy 5 months previously, depicted a diminished right kidney  size, relative function: RK =35% and LK =65%. About an hour after injecting iv the 99mTc-DTPA, posterior images were obtained. Patient voided during the camera acquisition. Note nice bladder filling and emptying with no residual volume.

There is activity remaining in the kidneys parenchyma, which may decrease sensitivity compared to the direct method, especially if retention involves the excretory system. There is no activity going into the ureters nor pelvis of both kidneys. The curves over ureters and kidneys are flat, save at the end when micturition takes place and counts drop quickly (arrow).
