I-131 Thyroid Scan Normal Images (Prepared by Dr Isabel Berrocal).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

        28 year old female being evaluated for thyroid nodules, was referred for thyroid scintigraphy with iodine 131 and RAIU at  2 and 24 hours (4% and 16% respectively). It is seen  a normal situated thyroid gland of adequate size and shape. Parenchymal uptake of I-131 in anterior view is relatively homogeneous, There are no cold or hot areas, except mild diffuse increased activity in right lobe. Usual background activity for I-131 and consistent with uptake of 24 hours. Compare with the quality of 99m-Tc pertechhectate images.
